Nike To Release An Air Max 98-Inspired Shoe Called The Air Max Axis

The magic around the Air Max 98 is trickling down to a brand new sneaker called the Nike Air Max Axis, a modern runner that features the familiar DNA of 2018’s Nike retro shoe of the year. There are several obvious design cues on the Air Max Axis that draw back to its muse, like the exaggerated lines that drop down from the lace eyelets, the down-sized Swoosh, the “AIR” lettering on the lace hoops, and the pointed tongue. However, you won’t find any material from the 1990s here as the Axis opts for lightweight synthetics laid over a breathable mesh. The most outstanding difference is the Air Unit, which also means that the Axis model will be priced much lower than the current $160 ask of the Retro.
