adidas Originals Unveils The P.O.D. System

adidas Originals is set to debut a brand new running silhouette with hopes to re-energize the brand and get consumer interest back to where it once was at the beginning of the BOOST era. Named the adidas P.O.D. S3.1, this new innovation is inspired by collection memory while taking design cues from a one-of-a-kind 3-D cushioning design concept that originated in mid-90s running shoes called Point Of Deflection System. Aiming to provide the optimal amount of shock absorption and stability by creating distinct segments of the sole to provide targeted cushioning, it was engineered with the benefit of the runner in mind.

Inspired by the Three Stripe’s podular design aesthetic, natural motion was at the forefront of the designer’s minds by combining an EVA forefoot with a BOOST heel as well as the aforementioned Point of Deflection bridge. Done up primarily in black, this introductory colorway’s BOOST heel ushers in white while pops of volt and blue add a much appreciated touch of color. Take a first look at the brand new P.O.D. S3.1 below and mark your calendars for its June 16th release, and stay tuned for more from the adidas Originals P.O.D. launch in London.
