The Nike Tailwind 79 OG Returns In A Royal Blue Colorway

The Nike Tailwind 79 OG Returns In A Royal Blue Colorway

Quite possibly one of the most important sneakers in the history of Nike, the Tailwind 79 OG laid the groundwork for a bevy of designs, footwear lines, and innovations to follow. Debuting in 1978 but fully hitting its stride a year later, the Tailwind was the very first Beaverton silhouette to boast a Frank Rudy-engineered Nike Air unit, the Swoosh’s most popular form of cushioning that has since been included in countless Air Max offerings as well as a bevy of performance-engineered basketball models. Returning to shelves this October in its original Vast Grey and Photo Blue form, Nike has its eyes set on another rendition that sees nearly the entirety of its mesh and suede-ridden upper adorned in a striking royal blue hue. Offset by a stark white Nike check, heel tab, and laces, a clean off-white or sail shade takes shape on its tongue that opts for a quick deconstructed hit of exposed foam. Swoosh heads looking to get in on one of the most slept-on releases of the year will be able to have this second version of the Nike Tailwinds from select retailers on December 20th.
