When it first released in late spring 2016, the Nike Air Force 1 Flyknit was nothing short of a revelation, an updated take on Bruce Killgore’s timeless design that boasted a brand-new knit upper and an overall weight that was less than half of its leather-equipped predecessors. Now, it’s coming back for the vernal season three years later, as a new Air Force 1 Flyknit 2.0 is set to debut. First unveiled in two PE iterations — a “Caramel Chocolate Sundae” and a “Paisley” — by none other than LeBron James, the past/present blending Nike shoes will return in three colorways: a familiar “Oreo” combo of white, black, and grey, a sporty “College Navy,” and a clean “Pure Platinum.”
Each pair’s upper is constructed almost entirely of the stretchy knit material, with the only deviations arriving on the midfoot Swoosh, eyestays, and heel tab, each of which instead opt for a traditional nubuck. The overall design is very similar to the 2016 release, but there is one noticeable switch, as the 2.0 discards the Flywire lace loops used by its predecessor, opting instead to keep things traditional with standard eyelets. The midsole features a modern-day makeover as well, thanks to its “Ultra” construction, a cored-out design that does away with a significant amount of bulk — and also features a debossed iteration of the AF1’s normal embossed “Air” branding. Check out all three pairs of these Air Force 1s below, and expect a rollout on Nike.com May 1st, complete with a retail price of $110 USD.
