Ross Dwyer Nike’s Air Max 200 is all about using visible Air cushioning in a new way: it gets its name from its bold heel Air unit, which provides 200% more Air compared to a traditional side-vis style like the Air Max 1 or Air Max 90. It’s set to debut this summer, and one of the colors that’s aiding in the initial rollout is this new women’s “Desert Sand” makeup. The layered upper mixes a soft phantom-colored mesh base with wavy sandy overlays, all of which are capped off by a third leather layer on the eyestays, toe cap, and heel. Black Swooshes on the Air Max 97-style cut-out quarters then provide branding along with the tongue’s Air 200 graphic. Down below, things goe from tonal to colorful, thanks to a white midsole with a hot red half-oval reaching across the cool blue Air Max cushioning unit, completing a color palette that offers slight Ralph Steadman Air Max 180 vibes.
