Michael Le Entangled with the very idea of legacy, Taiwanese boutique INVINCIBLE would only ever release project worth doing in the first place, and a partnership with Converse and their storied heritage of near 110 years is certainly up their alley. Rounding out what is a star-studded trio of reputable names, Wacko Maria joins the fun to infuse their appropriately playful and expressive take on Americana. The Chuck 70 is their loud, vibrant canvas to be, dressing both the low and high in a distinct yet connected all-over print that more so borrows from the Japanese label’s somewhat retro-inspired aesthetics.
A silhouette all of the above truly cherish, as stated by designer Atsuhiko Mori, the entire three-way collaboration comes from a place of passion, keeping the model true to its own self with little in the way of modifications and structural compromises. Both bear the standard issue sole unit of glossy ecru walls to dark foxing stripes with the canvas coming to life in a mix of loud graphics. Highs reinterpret the iconic leopard pattern in earth tones of tan and neutrals of black sparsely dosed within, filling in the lines a design exclusive to Wacko Maria themselves. Then, the low-top alternative, crafts with an olive base, showing a preference for militaristic camos though with shapes throughout appearing animalistic with subtlety.
Completed with a special reactive dye process, both pairs are certainly anything but ordinary and they’ll be releasing at select retailers come December 19th. An early launch on December 14th will be held at INVINCIBLE in Taipei, Taichung, Kaohsiung, Shanghai, and Jakarta with a raffle to kick off online only days prior.
