The commitment to building a brand dedicated to more sustainable product efforts has been an always-on narrative for the adidas brand in recent memory, especially after the company announced their goal to replace all virgin polyester with recycled polyester by 2024. With the assistance from Parley for the Oceans – an organization dedicated to raising awareness of the environmental threats to our oceanic ecosystems – they’ve been able to answer the call to their self-proclaimed challenge with consistent footwear collaborations constructed entirely out of recycled plastic. With a laundry list of previous offerings already under their belt, the two parties look to extend their run into 2020 with two upcoming colorways of the Ultra Boost 20.
Each takes on quite the opposite appearance, but come packaged in hues symbolic of its overarching themes. The first sees through to a pale beige upper which deviates slightly in shading between its cage, heels and knittings, and is contrasted in small amounts with its darker blue stripe branding for a theme that can potentially represent our planet’s sandy beaches. The second instead opts to go for navy route, and wraps its entire base constructions in a deeper-colored tone which reflects an oceanic motif and similar aesthetic to a Parley Ultra Boost 4.0 colorway that dropped back in 2018. Grab a detailed look at each pair here, and be on the lookout for them to drop on adidas.com in the coming weeks.
