If you had to boil down the entire Vans imprint to one sneaker, one can argue that it doesn’t really get any more classic than the Checkerboard Slip-On. The easy-on-easy-off shoe has become globally recognized for its versatility to be effectively worn both in the streets and on the half pipes. For this next installment, the California-located skate company is highlighting an early moment in the brand’s history from 1982, the very year that Sean Penn played the character of Jeff Spicoli in the film Fast Times at Ridgemont High. In the throwback teen drama, Spicoli is shown busting out a pair of classic black/white Slip-Ons which then resulted in a boost of popularity for not only the sneakers, but the entire Vans entity as a whole.
In an effort to honor this impact, the kicks are releasing this time with “Fast Times” branding logos repeating along its foxing. In addition, constructional upgrades are present due to the fact that these will be released under Vans’ Anaheim Factory Collection, meaning the uppers will be engineered with a heavier canvas as well as the footbeds being swapped for their modernized UltraCush. More shots are available here below, and you can expect them to be releasing in March 2020 on Vans.com.
