During the runner craze, ASICS was undoubtedly at its peak, relying heavily on its GRs as much as its KITH collaborations. But while Ronnie Fieg’s influence lasted quite a decent length of time, the silhouettes fell quickly after their audience moved on to the next big thing. Trends, however, are cyclical, and we may just be upon another wave similar to the resurgence of Dunks in recent years. Brought on by the revival of the GEL-Lyte III as well as Sean Wotherspoon’s creative input into the brand, it looks like interest is gradually rising, so there’s no better a time for the label to bolster its roster of classics — the GEL-Lyte V obviously one of the first on the list. Its latest, which strings together familiar themes, dresses to a militaristic likeness, specifically classic MA-1s. Recognizable olive tones dress the suedes and nylon throughout, white the tiger stripe and tooling, but at the tread, branding, and a few of the outlines, the model nods to the aforementioned flight jacket’s iconic orange lining. Grab a detailed look at these here and expect to find them at select shops and asics.com now.
