Plenty of beloved Nike Basketball silhouettes are set to return by the end of the year, but before that happens, the Nike Air Foamposite One is launching in its colorway inspired by the 1996 NBA All-Star Game tomorrow, September 4th.
Although the model still boasts a healthy following, especially in places like The Bronx and Baltimore, the futuristic shell-reminiscent sneaker has seen better days. Yet, tomorrow’s launch is the type of release that may regain the silhouette some attention, as it blends story-telling, nostalgia, and good execution into one package. “Black” and “Game Royal”, two mainstays within the Foamposite line, set the stage for a “White” abstract graphic on the profiles. The inner-bootie features a pin-stripe design reminiscent of old-school Orlando Magic jerseys; embroidered stars on the tongue pull tab and “1996” text on the “Aurora” sockliner nod to the uniforms word by Anfernee Deon “Penny” Hardaway and the Eastern team 24 years ago. Sole units forgo any nostalgic motifs in favor of a “Black” and “Game Royal” combination.

Elsewhere under the Swoosh umbrella, a handful of pairs of the Air Max Plus have recently emerged.
