NIKE, Inc. is no stranger to footwear and apparel suited for inclement weather. For the upcoming fall and winter, however, the North American sportswear behemoth is collaborating with 3M on a Nike Sportswear capsule, which includes the Air Max 90 and Air Force 1.
Unlike the latter, the former features externally-visible warmth-associated materials in addition to 3M’s Thinsulate™ and Scotchlite™ solutions; a quilted fabric at the toe box is overlaid with pebbled leather. Profile swooshes follow suit, but sit above suede mudguards. Eyes-tays and heel panels maintain their standard TPU construction, but are complemented by synthetic insulation and highly-visible, reflective detailing. “NIKE AIR” branding on the 30-year-old silhouette is replaced with a glossy “3M” logo; it, like most of the pair, is clad in “Black”. Underfoot, Air Max units are accompanied by a white EVA foam midsole, and indulge in a vibrant yellow hue. The tread’s pattern hasn’t been reworked, but boasts a semi-translucent finish.
An official Nike.com release date is unknown, but this Air Max 90 is likely to launch in the coming weeks. Until then, enjoy official images of the shoes here below.
Elsewhere under the Swoosh umbrella, the Air Max 95 continues celebrating its 25th Anniversary with more impressive colorways.
