China’s Melting Sadness, though obscured in mystery, claims an aesthetic difficult to ignore, one that seemingly channels a few decade-old standouts like any under the belt of Jeremy Scott. In a style similar to the designer’s bear-clad offerings, the Chinese label’s take on the adidas Superstar presents an homage to themselves as they liken the icon to their bunny-eared mascot.
As such, the Superstar has been provided a number of interesting additions, most animalistic in their visuals. Bunny-mouthed embroideries dress the heel as a minimal, straightforward opener, grounding the motifs further elaborated on via the short scut tails attached to the counter and the pronounced ears that rest along the side of the lace unit. Elsewhere, faux furs are doused in a bright blue all throughout, matched by darker leathers atop the tongue and heel tab; side profiles are then accented further with a natural tan as the Three Stripes layer atop in complement to the tongue and insole. Below, the sole finishes with distressing, the side walls and shell toe brushed with brown all across.
Grab a detailed look at these right here and expect a release to arrive at select retailers and adidas overseas come October 17th for 15,000 Yen. As for US adidas.com release, we’re still awaiting confirmation.
In other news, the adidas Response CL is returning in new colorways.
