Jaden Smith, son of world renowned artist/actor Will Smith, has had quite an impressive 2020 in terms of creative projects as he finally debuted his Cool Tape Vol. 3 album, released new merch under his own MSFTSrep apparel line, and dropped his own sneaker collaboration with New Balance. The latter, after teasing an extra-bright yellow colorway — which by the way is scheduled for an 11/6 arrival — is now bringing word of the New Balance Vision Racer “Surplus” makeup that will precede it, and it’s perhaps the most wildly-styled version we’ve seen to-date.
Its moniker is a direct call-out to the various recycled textiles and synthetic leather materials that comprise its base, which make sense here considering Smith has been noticeably vocal about pushing sustainable products, especially when it’s related to his own sneaker model. Each pair comes packaged with a vibrant assortment of multi-colored uppers, but one thing to point out here is that no two pairs will be crafted the same, essentially making consumers having their own 1-of-1 rendition. In terms of other consistent elements that have been carried over, “Vision” text hits still arrive in repetitive fashion along the thin mid-foot/wrap-around overlay as well as in oversized form inside the outsoles, and the bottom piece mixes between a chunky white midsole and translucent tread. Thinking of copping? These are dropping via the Greenhouse app on October 21st, but will see a release on FootLocker.com and through select European retailers on October 23rd for $150.
For other news in the realm of footwear, more images of the Off-White Nike Zoom Tempo NEXT% have emerged.
