In the past decade, nerd culture has evolved to become widely respected across the world, many now an avid viewer of Twitch’s most notable or a player in competitive games like Valorant, League of Legends, Rainbow Six Siege, and the like. Even Nike seems to have caught on as they’ve delivered not only an LoL-dedicated pack of releases but have also squeezed in references to retro 8-bit gaming through offerings like this Air Force 1.
And though its Swoosh and logos are aggressively modified, the construction elsewhere is par for the course. White smooth leathers take the iconic shape of the AF1, wrapping the toe cap, mid-panel, and heel counter as if the Triple White pairs already on the shelf. Moreover, as mentioned earlier, the checks along the sides make up for what its surroundings lack as they are made to be both removable and visually reminiscent of old-fashion pixels. Their cut, which is deceptively low fidelity, is further echoed along the insole, tongue, and heel — the latter two made further similar through an iridescent film distinct in its bright tonal spectrum.
Grab a detailed look at these right here, and if you’re looking for a release, you can expect one to arrive soon at Nike.com and likely a few select retailers.
