Fresh off one of the month’s most anticipated releases — the AJ1 “University Blue” — the week has slowed to a crawl, with little in the way of upcomers hitting headlines. Thankfully, the Air Jordan 1 “Patina” has broken up a relatively slow news days, showcasing some of its most detailed images yet.
Unveiled quite a few months ago, the colorway is ostensibly half-inspired by heritage offerings. The “Shadow” serves as a loose influence, imparting its dark grey shades onto the heel counter and ankle flap’s suede panels. Elsewhere, the toe cap, eye stays, and Swoosh dramatically subvert this association, their finishes darkened with a bronze-dominant “Patina.” Black, then, rounds off the scheme as it dresses the leather base as well as the nylon tongue and its standard flat laces. What’s more, the branding takes on a look far more eccentric than previous retros; rather than adopt the standard leather tab, the green-tinted “Nike Air” logo is framed by matching zig-zag stitch.
For a close-up look, see the images below. Currently, Foot Locker is reporting a March 13th release date, though that may quickly change later on in the week as Nike SNKRS has yet to set a date.
If you’re looking for the next “it” AJ1, the Jordan 1 Hyper Royal may be it.
UPDATE 3/9/2021:
The Air Jordan 1 “Patina” has now been pushed back to Mar. 25th.
