Hiroshi Fujiwara‘s relationship with Nike dates far, far back, when HTM releases were still prevalent. And in the years since he teamed up with the brand, the designer has amassed a sizable archive of collaborative releases. Few, however, are quite as iconic as the Dunk High‘s “City Pack,” which derived alternating, asymmetric colorways from cities across the globe. Today, just one — the “Beijing” — is readying up for its return, albeit with a few changes.
Effectively half of what made the original stand out, the 2021 version of the “Beijing” opts for a simpler, symmetrical color blocking. Black leathers dress the overlays from end to end, matching the Swoosh, tread, and the newly applied development style text that marks the white midsole. Underneath, the base rounds out the design with a tinge of familiarity, displaying its deep purple shades across the toe, mid-panel, and collar. Finally, to better signal the fragment name, the trademark lightning bolt stamps right atop the back heel.
For another closer look at this “revival,” see below. Sizes will be hitting the stores listed below this Saturday, June 5th.
In other news, the Air Max 97 Puerto Rico is releasing on the same day.
