Jasmine Tang Now that we are well into the summer season, it’s hard to avoid indulging in some fun, fruit-reminiscent footwear. This is especially so with a newly released New Balance 57/40 that flaunts a bold, watermelon-esque color palette.
While bright red and dark brown meshes appear on the ankle, tongue, and toebox, a patchwork of suedes dominates the upper. The aforementioned red is complemented by the green suede that composes the lacestays, overlays at the hindfoot, and the oversized “N” logos for a “watermelon” approach. Pink suede highlighting the toe and a teal overlay at the heel add some more summery hues to the mix. These two colors reappear as midsole overlays, although it is very subtle. Under the predominantly white midsole is black rubber to finish off the vibrant style.
