Amassing over two billion fans globally and introducing them to legends such as Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson, the NBA is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. To ring in its diamond jubilee, the sports league has teamed up with no other than Nike to craft some celebratory styles that reflect its legacy. Among these propositions is a Nike Dunk Low clad in Chicago-esque colors and festive emblems to be released alongside another blue-accented Dunk Low.
The pair sports a smooth leather base in “Sail” that is intercepted by tumbled leather overlays. For the Chicago look, “Child Red” is applied to the lacestays and overlays around the toe while black tints remaining elements such as the profile Swooshes and heel tab. The usual Swoosh logo on the tongue label has been swapped out for the NBA’s 75th Anniversary insignia as one of the collaboration-exclusive details to dress the style. A silver lace dubrae that features an etched diamond further honors the diamond anniversary of the sports league. A red outsole and embroidery on the heel complete the look for a crisp, festive design.
Take a closer look at the NBA x Nike Dunk Low “Diamond Anniversary” pictured below, which is in a GS size—a hint that the model is most likely going to be available in full-family sizing. Expect more details regarding a release in the near future, although it is expected that the pair is arriving at Nike.com in October.
