Not much else can be said about the merits of Nike’s ZoomX AlphaFly running platform. Founded during the brand’s unthinkable mission to help Eluid Kipchoge run a sub-two hour marathon, ZoomX has since become the bar for Nike’s best running shoes and has since expanded to other categories to push sport performance to new heights. Aside from providing athletes optimum gear, Nike has also focused its attention on sustainability as the world’s climate continues its slow deterioration. Leading brands such as the Swoosh have the responsibility and influence to pivot the entire efforts of the industry, and with their Move To Zero initiative, they’re doing so in innovative ways that don’t compromise the effectivity of its product.
The Nike Zoom AlphaFly Next Nature is the latest iteration of the current-gen AlphaFly models, but is made of at least 50% recycled material by weight. The redesigned upper is composed of both Nike Flyprint, a 3D printed textile made with at least 20% recycled TPU, and Nike Flyknit made with at least 45% recycled polyester. It’s cork-like midsole is a super-responsive ZoomX midsole made with at least 70% recycled foam; Nike Air Zoom Pods made partially with recycled TPU; and a propulsive, yet stiff Flyplate made with at least 50% recycled carbon fiber. The outsole is a mix of higher abrasion compounds and Nike Grind Rubber with optimal traction patterns driven by data. The laces and sockliner are made with 100% recycledd material as well.
The Nike Zoom AlphaFly Next Nature is set to release in 2021; we’ll update you when we learn more.
