Jovani Hernandez While no longer the latest example of the Three Stripes’ innovation, the adidas EQT series has birthed a lot of trends and designs since debuting 30 years ago. As part of the line’s milestone anniversary, the German sportswear behemoth has remastered four original models from the Equipment series: the Support, Race Walk, Cushion and Prototype.
The “brainchildren” of Peter Moore and Robert Strasser, adidas EQT was designed to address performance gaps across a multitude of sports. Pusha T and NIGO have looked to the series’ extensive catalog for their own collaborations, but die-hard enthusiasts of the 1990s-designs have been begging for proper retros of the aforementioned sneakers. As was the case in 1991, each option is clad in shades of white and grey, and built with high-quality leather, suede and plastic. “Sub Green,” which was intentionally developed as part of the “adidas Equipment” identity, animates 3-Stripes branding across the Support, Race Walk, Cushion and Prototype, as well as along other components. Each pair also dons the line’s name on the heel, with adidas Consortium logos on the tongue label denoting these sneakers’ special edition. All four propositions have since been succeeded by a plethora of BOOST and LIGHTSTRIKE-cushioned models, but they still boast a cult-like following sure to gain new members soon.
