Throughout the past few years, adidas has gradually expanded on their skateboarding category, providing shoes not just for talents like Tyshawn Jones and legends such as Mark Gonzales. But many of these have been quite low profile in design, something the brand’s latest proposition — the ADI2000 — actively goes against, drawing influence instead from the 2000s.
DC, ETNIES, Osiris, and the like all serve as some inspiration for the ADI2000, which is a drastic departure from anything the Three Stripes have delivered thus far. Below, its tooling is built to platform height, the white construction a perfect match for the sheer bulk above. And the upper is equally built to skate, combining robust hits of mesh, suede, and leather in a black, blue, and white colorway. Fat laces, a padded tongue/heel, and retro logo hits all accompanying, rounding out an effective ode to the decade.
