Union LA Also Has A Nike Cortez Collaboration In The Works

Aside from their 30th anniversary Air Jordan 4s, Union LA has kept quiet throughout the year. But in 2022, that will quickly change as the boutique has teamed up with Nike for a small sum of collaborative releases. And in addition to their already revealed Air Jordan 2 and Dunk Low, we’re to see two colorways of the Nike Cortez.

Reflective of past offerings, Union’s Cortez is no simple palette swap. While the bones are relatively true to the original, the paneling and sole are much more unique, each opting for a complex design. Underfoot, the midsole foam has been heavily worn away and patched over at the fore and rear. Above, suedes wrap the toe and side with many an individual piece, while thick canvas lays underneath in its striped pattern. “UN/LA” tags, then, hang on the side as per usual, branding in tandem with the tongue label and heel tab’s own text and Frontman logo.

Color-wise, one option veers close to the AJ4 “Guava Ice” offered in 2022. Pinks lay atop the Swoosh, lace, and vamp, while tan builds out many of the exterior fixtures. Blue plays a subtle part over top, highlighting every instance of insignia. In contrast, the alternate is rendered near entirely in black, with accenting pops of green and light cool tones.
