Jovani Hernandez Although born in Manhattan, pro-skater Tyshawn Jones experienced some of his most formative years in the Bronx, maneuvering through the borough’s Throggs Neck area on and off his board. Recently, the 23-year-old and his Three Stripes family shared an official look at the next adidas Tyshawn skate shoe, which is an ode to New York.
Constructed with high-quality suede, the pair’s upper boasts a slightly-grey tone reminiscent of the “Bronx Bomber”‘s away uniforms. Deep navy lands on the adidas Skateboarding offering’s profile 3-Stripes, which opt for a full-leather build. Accompanying perforation delivers high-breathability to kicks, while the mid-top, padded collar provides the type of support and protection required for the athletic tricks that helped Jones acquire Thrasher Magazine’s “Skater of the Year” award in 2018. “Metallic Gold” logos land on the top of the tongue and heel, though the most important one is stamped onto the adidas Tyshawn’s lateral mid-foot: “NEW YORK.”
