Nike Dresses The Air Griffey Max 1 In An Alternate Mariners Colorways

Standing toe to toe with any other first signature shoe ever created by Nike, Ken Griffey Jr.’s Nike Air Griffey Max 1 has enjoyed a second life as a retro footwear darling over the span of the last decade and change. Since its return to the limelight in 2009, the Nike Griffeys have been wildly popular across all demographics as its design screams the mid-90s and features all the details we’ve come to love in throwback-themed footwear. This newly revealed colorway clearly depicts a fresh take on the OG “Freshwater” as well as the Mariner team colors as it relies on an aqua teal to achieve that alternate look.

It’s not a far cry from the OG Freshwater pair as it sees the aqua teal hue take over the mudguard and lace collars, while a black strap, forefoot Swoosh, and Air bag “eyeliner” adds a nice hit of contrast. The subtle hits of red appear on the Swoosh logos on the heel, strap, and tongue, but it has no difficulty in standing out.

After a triumphant return in 2021, the Air Griffey Max 1 has all the momentum headed into 2022 as several colors are already expected. Stay tuned for release updates as these will hit Nike.com and partnering retailers as MLB Opening Day is mere weeks away.
