Michael Le Now that it’s 2022, you’d think we’d have moved past weed leaves and associated symbols. Even in the years prior, Nike SB has celebrated 4/20 tastefully, and their Dunk High “Skunk” is still one of the holiday’s best releases. Vault By Vans, though, prefers to celebrate vocally, as their upcoming “Positive Vibrations” pack covers their classics in the pervasive marijuana leaf.
Though comprised of three different silhouettes — the SK8-Hi, Old Skool, and Authentic — the collection shares one cohesive color story. The above-mentioned leaf lays across every shoe, clad in shades of green, yellow, and red. These are embroidered into a hemp-constructed base, whose texture and tan color ostensibly reference rolling papers. Elsewhere, the metallic eyelets, midsole, and laces are far more standard by comparison; this is true of the Jazz Stripes, too, despite their alternating from orange to red.
