Sneaker News Who says a dog is just man’s best friend? Nike is honoring the companionship between woman and canine with this upcoming Nike Air Max 1 release inspired by the unbreakable bond, decorating the silhouette with numerous cues dedicated to the lovable pet.
First, the mudguard and tongue features a bandana-like pattern and material — a nod to the handkerchiefs that dogs wear around their necks. The bright green interior and grassy insoles represent the tennis balls and grassy plains that pups love to play on, while the natural tones reflect the color of pastoral dogs that are very common in Asia. Nike also adds hairy materials on the tongue, while lightly plush textures cover the quarter and the heel. The Air Max 1 “Woman’s Best Friend” also mis-matches the color-blocking, with varying shades comprising the right and left shoe.
While a US release date is not yet confirmed, these are set to release on SNKRS in Asia on June 18th. We’ll update you if there’s any word of a US release, but it is likely that these are an Asia exclusive.
