As the first official Nike Basketball sneaker, the Nike Blazer Mid has played a pivotal role in the brand’s history with innovation. Soon, the leather silhouette is set to debut in a women’s-exclusive variant that takes performance-informed design and gives it a fashion-forward spin.
Dubbed the Blazer Mid Victory, the newly-surfaced offering from the Swoosh is familiar, yet refreshing. While the pair’s overall shape and components fall in-line with what debuted in the 1970s, the sneaker arguably sits closer to a luxury shoe than sportswear option. A mix of tumbled and smoother leather overtakes most of the upper, with profile swooshes and upper heel panels boasting bulbous updates. Reinforcement along the tongue and around the forefoot also get a “facelift,” with the latter area replacing traditional suede with leather in varying hues. Exposed foam tongues also abandon their “barebones” look for something more reminiscent of an expensive pillow, with nearby lace rings injecting yet another touch of class into the Nike Blazer. Lastly, herringbone-patterned traction is replaced with curved tread that rounds out the women’s sneaker.
Enjoy official images of the pair ahead, and anticipate a Nike.com launch in November.
