Despite its continuous support of the adidas Originals lineup, the Three Stripes continues to look toward the future.
Over the past two years, the German sportswear behemoth has regained positioning within the performance-running space, outfitting several half-marathon record breakers with the latest and greatest from its Adizero series. It’s unlikely that any competitive athlete will run a long distance race in the adidas Ultra 4DFWD, but the new silhouette further demonstrates the company’s commitment to innovation, in particular in regards to bettering athletes’ experiences. Individually, the shoes’ parts aren’t new to the brand’s roster of products, but their combined arrangement deliver updates to both the Ultraboost and 4D lines. A reworked PRIMEKNIT upper, which consists of at least 50% Parley Ocean Plastic and 50% recycled polyester, sits atop a “best-of-both-worlds” cushioning and tooling situation: support structures wrap around the heel, providing stability to the propulsion-oriented midsole underfoot. Continental™ Rubber reprises its role through the traction, but is arranged in a new, more tire-like way that promises durable and responsive grip for any task.
