As the original action sports brand, Vans has been in the thick of “it” for decades. Recently, the California-institution teamed up with Secretly Canadian, a record label located in Bloomington, Indiana, to raise funds for organizations fighting to end homeless in the midwestern city.
To raise awareness and funds, the two imprints have reimagined a limited-edition Vans Sk8-Hi, with net proceeds benefiting Secretly Canadian’s $250,000 USD fundraising goal for non-profit and emergency housing solution New Hope For Families, a local shelter in which families with children can be housed together without discrimination. The shoe, which takes on a simple, but compelling white and blue color palette, draws inspiration from lyrics from “Farewell Transmission” by Jason Molina. Text is stamped onto the pair’s spine, while profiles don graphics of the sun and moon referenced in the aforementioned song’s opening verse.
In addition to the Sk8-Hi by Secretly Canadian, the record label will also be reissuing all two dozen installments of the SC25 Singlesseries as one definitive, digital compilation. You can read about all the SC25 efforts here.
Enjoy campaign imagery of the pair ahead, and pre-order your size via the Secretly Store and Bandcamp right now; the Sk8-Hi will officially drop on Friday, September 2nd. via Bandcamp.
