Utilizing the proven formula of transferring an OG colorway to another model, the Air Jordan 5 “Aqua” bridges the game between the 1990 model and its 1992/1993 successor.

While aqua tones are not unfamiliar with the Air Jordan 5 (it played a pivotal role in the original “Grape” colorway), it now comes packaged with a bright university gold yellow to subtly nod to the Air Jordan 8 “Aqua”. It is indeed missing hints of purple and red to fully grasp that name. In fact, the upcoming Aqua 5s are more akin to early-era Chris Paul Player Exclusives that Jordan Brand graced him with during his years with the New Orleans Hornets.

This Air Jordan 5 Retro is among the first confirmed drops for Jordan Brand in 2023, with a tentative release date currently penciled in for January 21st. See a closer look at ahead and see what else is dropping in the Jordan 2023 Release Dates preview.
