With Hispanic Heritage Month well underway, The Swoosh is continuing to expand its roster of tributes after kicking off the celebration with a duo of the Air Force 1 and Air Trainer 1. Employing a seldom amount of offerings throughout the past few months, Nike is tapping the Air Max 1 for its latest commemoration to Latin American culture.

Proffering disparate textiles compared to its typical construction, the underlying mesh and heel counter opts instead for a tight-knit burlap texture treated in vibrant cream and orange while the midfoot overlay establishes the silhouettes dominant rich pumpkin hue. The latter fabric harkens debossed floral motifs littering the forefoot’s mudguard and lower heel clip whereas the Swooshes inject further titular shades bearing a golden suede Check finished in outlined stitching for its medial counterpart. Additional embellishments include lime green eye stays, embroidered insignias and insoles branded with the model’s “Somos Familia” namesake before the sole unit concludes in the presiding neutral-toned ensemble with an egg nog-colored midsole and gum tread.

Enjoy official images of the Air Max 1 “Somos Familia” while we expect the Beaverton-based brand to announce a release date within the coming weeks.
