Retooled extensively by Japanese streetwear brand realmad HECTIC throughout the 2000’s, the New Balance 580 once enjoyed a multitude of third party collaborators that infused their vision unto the silhouette. Having been revived to resounding acclaim thanks to the collaborative aid of Palace and Stray Rats, the New England-based brand has since delved into its historic archives for a new slate of inline propositions.
Taking direct cues from the 2003 pairing of realmad HECTIC x Stussy that dressed the NB 580 in a duo of neutral-toned offerings, the latest offering takes on the latter’s “Olive” aesthetic.
Swapping the original constructions golden mesh base for a simplified cream shade, the remainder of the model remains relatively untouched with smooth “Olive” treated nubuck overlays and a tan rubber midfoot panel. Metallic Silver accents return to fill the heel tab and adjacently placed “N” logo bearing a titular yellow trim that concludes along the tongues green branded tab. White laces contrast with jet-black eye stays above that’s dark shading comes color-matched along the tread before a while midsole affixed with a vanilla-hued Roll bar finishes the design elements.
