MSCHF Gives Its Super Normal 2 Silhouette A “5 O’Clock Shadow”

MSCHF (pronounced: Mischief) hasn’t been shy about its affinity for pushing the boundaries, both legally and design-wise. Ahead of the holiday season, the creative cohort has unveiled its 1980s basketball sneaker-inspired Super Normal 2 silhouette in a “5 O’Clock Shadow” colorway.

Limited to just 666 pairs, the upcoming shoes are set to drop exclusively via the MSCHF Sneakers app and in-person at the Perrotin Gallery in New York City on Thursday, November 3rd. The sneakers introduce a new waved outsole tread—likely as a move to differentiate the design from the Nike Air Force 1–and is covered in a fully liquified upper. The result is an experimental footwear product in line with much of MSCHF’s past work; even the uniform black color arrangement throughout the shoe indulges in the cheeky nature of the Brooklyn-based agency.

In comparison to the AC1 walking boot and Wavy Baby releases from over the last 11 months, the suede-covered proposition delivers a much more wearable situation for those lucky enough to get one of 666 pairs. The Super Normal 2 debuted in a “Coke White” look that unquestionably references the moniker commonly given to all-white sneakers in Harlem, Baltimore and similar communities.

The “5 O’Clock Shadow” counterpart will sell for $185 USD on a first-come, first-served basis both online and in-person. Enjoy a closer look at MSCHF’s latest project ahead.
