Michael Le Every year for the past five years, the Swoosh has celebrated their SNKRS platform on August 8th, often delivering commemorative releases alongside. And while the US has enjoyed several notable offerings, few match up to that of Nike Korea; and in 2023, the country is once again showing us up with the Air Jordan 1 Low “SNKRS Day.”
At a glance, not much of the Air Jordan 1 Low “SNKRS Day” exudes Korean pride. The mix of smooth and tumbled leather, for example, is nonspecific in its coloring, opting for neutral shades of white, black, and brown. The embroidery along the heel, however, does make the connection, as it honors the magpie, the national bird of the country. Moreover, Nike is written in Korean along the inside of the shoe, stamped just below the SNKRS logo.
