Pre-distressed sneakers have always been a contentious topic, whether you’re a sneakerhead or not. Brands the likes of Golden Goose, for example, were previously ridiculed for these very offerings, with many refusing to pay anywhere near their several hundred dollar asking price. But over the course of the last few years, opinion has quickly taken a turn, as the rise of the vintage trend has incited many to do the dirtying, yellowing, and scuffing themselves.

Earlier this year, Balenciaga took this trend to its natural conclusion, proffering a range of extremely destroyed sneakers whose retail price was in the low four figures. The luxury brand echoed this design with their collaborative adidas Stan Smith as well, emulating the look of a pair many, many years worn. Next in this trend is Nike ISPA and their newest creation, the Mindbody, which is far removed from the refinement we’re accustomed to from the sub-label.

With the Mindbody, it seems the team is taking the four ISPA pillars — Improvise, Scavenge, Protect, and Adapt — quite literally, as the model appears to be the result of years of wandering. The colorway, for starters, is clothed in various shades of brown, giving the knit upper, sole, and fixtures adjacent a look not like that of any brand new sneaker. This is further amplified with the shoe’s construction, as the pieces are welded together in a fashion more reminiscent of repairs than something fresh out of production.

Enjoy a closer look at the Nike ISPA Mindbody for yourself below. A firm release date has not yet been revealed, but there are reports that these are expected to land in December.
