The Jordan Stadium 90 Draws Inspiration From Iconic 1990 Footwear Designs

Famously inspired by a British fighter jet and the first silhouette in his historic line to feature a translucent tread and molded foam in the upper, the Air Jordan 5 has gone on to influence a number of Jordan Brand’s hybrid propositions. Alongside efforts such as the 6 Rings and Dub Zero, the Beaverton brand’s roster of crossbred models is expanding with the newly constructed Jordan Formula 90.

As insinuated by its namesake, the latest tooling from the Jumpman wheelhouse draws upon iconic design cues from the 90s, specifically the debut of the AJ 5. Borrowing the latter’s padded collars, forefoot teeth design and netted mid-foot panels, Tinker Hatfield’s chosen design embellishments then jump to the Air Jordan 1’s heavily perforated vamp while underfoot, the OG-inspired composition is transported to the present by infusing the brand’s premier Formula 23 cushioning solution throughout the sole unit. Further engaging in the renovated aesthetic, suede-treated overlays stretch across the entirety of the selection which coordinates both “White/Sail” and “White/University Red” color blockings.
