sacai And Nike Add Woven Uppers To The Waffle

sacai‘s fanbase grew tenfold upon the debut of their Nike LDWaffle, which was unanimously crowned one of the best collaborative offerings of 2019. And after a number of subsequent colorways, the Japanese label seemed to have moved on from the silhouette in 2021… or so we thought. As revealed by sneaker insiders, Chitose Abe and the Swoosh are planning on revisiting the beloved runner, this time adding woven uppers to its construction.

Further evolving the design language of the original, this upcoming sacai x Nike Waffle is covered almost entirely in patchwork. From the toe through to the heel, the construction is woven with the materials typical of the silhouette, creating a checkerboard pattern comprised of mesh, leather, and the like. Even the Swoosh is spliced apart, further disturbing the recognizability of one of the footwear brand’s most iconic offerings. Adjacent, the pair is finished with details borrowed from past LDWaffles, such as the dual-layered eyestays, tongues, and laces.

Enjoy an early look at sacai and Nike’s latest project ahead. Additional information should be surfacing soon, so sit tight and stay tuned for further updates.

In other news, an Air Jordan 1 Low OG Stealth has just surfaced.
