Air Jordan hybrid models like the Spiz’ike, Dub Zero, and more recently the Two Trey and MVP 678 have had no trouble stirring up conversation on social media. Equally loved and hated by Jordan loyalists, these mash-ups of past Air Jordan releases – typically comprised of the ones that Michael won his six titles with – seem to have continuing success at retail because Jordan Brand is showing no signs of slowing down this product channel.
Revealed not long ago in a classic black/red colorway, the Jordan MVP 678 appears in a black/royal mix. The Air Jordan 6 acts as the primary influence for the design of this model, because from afar the silhouette could easily pass as a pair of Retros. However, the multi-colored pattern from the Air Jordan 8 appears via the exterior mudguard at the heel above the Air unit, while the toe-box and mid-foot are directly ported over from the layered construction of the Air Jordan 7. Furthermore, the AJ7’s tribal pattern appears beneath the black translucent tongue, NIKE AIR on the heel is a callout to the 1991 model, and the stylized “23” appears on the medial side — a detail from the Air Jordan 8.
The Jordan MVP 678 is currently expected to release this Summer 2023 season; MSRP is likely in the $150-180 range and several colorways are in the works.
