With the likes of St. Patrick’s Day and Easter kicking off Spring, the sneaker ecosystem’s biggest names are also routinely known to celebrate the Earth’s “birthday” each year. This year, adidas‘ sustainably-centric collection siphons the hues associated with the 70s counterculture movement while collecting naturally occurring textures and fabrics for a duo of Earth Day propositions.
Tapping both the adidas Superstar and Stan Smith, each model enacts a neutral-based background with light cream and “Wonder White” shades treating the Hemp-constructed uppers, respectively. Alongside the lightly dipped fabric, organic cotton laces and cork-comprised insoles further instill the pack’s identical embellishments in tandem with the “Cream White” tincture stretched across the sole units. Whereas the Stan Smith enjoys a more uniform approach, the Superstar instigates darkened contrasts with “Magic Beige” sprouting from the sock liners and a light “Taupe” enveloping the heel tab and medial suede stripes.
Retooling both pairs to incorporate at least 30% natural and renewable materials, a 70s-inspired hand-crafted crochet detailing fills the 3-Stripes of the Superstar while anchoring the heel of the Stan Smith in a palette comprised of burgundy, yellow and green.
While we await each of the silhouette’s confirmed release date over the coming weeks, in the meantime enjoy official imagery of the adidas 2023 Earth Day Collection below.
In other news, the Run The Jewels x Nike SB Dunk High and Low are set to release on Killer Mike’s birthday, April 20th.
