Nearly just as synonymous with Jordan Brand as the “Bred” colorway, “University Blue” hues have explored the entirety of the Beaverton brand’s archives for decades. Exercising a trio of Air Jordan 1’s over the past few years – with the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “UNC Toe” composition set to arrive this coming July – the University of North Carolina’s staple blue shade is looking to bring the youth into the fold by preparing a kids-exclusive Air Jordan 1 Mid.
Having previewed its low-top counterpart in late March, the mid-top model exchanges the latter’s colorful base layer with pitch-black shades, and vice-versa atop the smooth leather overlays. Mimicking the exact color blocking as its high-top’s “Dark Marina Blue” ensemble from last winter, the vibrant tone derived from MJ’s alma mater mimics the tincture of the Air Jordan 2 Low “UNC To Chicago” as opposed to a more muted finish across the mudguard, quarter, collar, foxing and tongue construction. Underfoot, the silhouette remains true to form with a crisp white midsole and dipped titular tread below.
While release details for the pair have remained under wraps so far, in the meantime enjoy official imagery of the mens Air Jordan 1 Mid “University Blue” below (GS sizes arriving too).
