Iconized by the high-flying prowess of both Nick Van Excel and Shawn Kemp, the Reebok The Blast remains steeped in on-court allure from the late 90s. Having only featured one reissue since then in 2014, the high-top staple from 1996 now returns for its second retro release with a familiar tribute to the Houston All-Star game of the same year.
Bearing ostensibly similar design cues to the Packer Shoes x Reebok Kamikaze “Reign On The Alamo”, the pitch-dark ensemble borrows the titular pink, teal and orange hues that graced the famed NBA All-Star Game jerseys at the Alamodome in Texas. Retaining its synonymous asymmetrical construction and overlapping sidewalls, grey and black tints collect together for a pitch-dark monochrome upper as the vibrant palette concentrates along the tread and heel’s pull tab.
The Reebok The Blast “The Alamo” is scheduled to release on July 7th for a retail price of $160 in unisex sizing. In the meantime enjoy a detailed look at the pair below.
For more basketball-ready toolings, the Nike Zoom GT Cut 2 has been added to the upcoming “NY vs. NY” collection.
