Using everything from GORE-TEX materials to nylon-constructed lace covers, the Swoosh has experimented heavily with waterproofing several of their most beloved sneakers. But with this upcoming Air Force 1, the brand is attempting something a bit different, removing almost every single one of the silhouette’s seams.
The resulting product is much different from the weather resistant Air Force 1s we’ve seen previously. Save for the glaring lack of perforations and seams, the pair’s construction is relatively ordinary at a glance, proffering a tumbled leather through the profile and across the overlaid eyestays and heel tab. If not for the tongue — which boasts a nylon ripstop as well as “WATERPROOF” markings below its branding — the model’s purpose would not be quite as overt.

In case you missed it, the adidas Stan Smith Homer Simpson is releasing next month.
