The Air Jordan 1 Mid‘s catalog is chock-full of nods to the greats, particularly that of its taller sibling. But with its latest offering, the mid-top silhouette is looking beyond its typical inspirations, borrowing design cues from the classic “Grape” colorway.
In regards to color blocking, much of this Air Jordan 1 Mid is reminiscent of the “Black Toe.” Similar to the latter, black neutrals are used along many of the overlays, contrasting the white leather base just underneath. But in place of red, the back half of the shoe is predominantly dressed in vibrant hues: purples paint both the ankle flaps as well as the heel counter, while aqua blues sit along the collar. Seldom hits of red and orange, too, are present, highlighting the Wings/Jumpman and the “AIR” text, respectively.
