The Swoosh has been updating some of its most popular sneaker designs for the golf course for years, but the last 24 months have seen an uptick in this trend.
Recently, the Nike Air Max 1 Golf shoe has emerged in new styles, captivating savvy and casual audiences alike. The design is based on Tinker Hatfield’s revolutionary Air Max sneaker from 1987, but close inspection to the outsole reveals reworked studs for high performance on the green. The brand’s reimagined Air Max 1 has taken on classic color schemes over the last few years, but its latest ensemble sees a series of green tones – “Seaglass,” “Mica Green,” “Lime Blast” – paired with grey components throughout the upper. Midsoles house a large Air bubble and also feature a partly-recycled foam compound that promises comfort over 18 holes. Lastly, waffle-patterned traction designed for road running is met with aggressive nubs across the forefoot and heel, readying the iconic sneaker for golf.
