Debuting in 1997 as the inaugural sneaker from the Team Jordan umbrella, the Jumpman Team 1 (which last retroed in 2014) is back in stores nearly three decades later in both original and new colorway options.
This Black/Varsity Red/White option, one of the OG colors from the silhouette’s original run in 1997, reflects the chief design inspiration quite well. In case you didn’t know, the Air Jordan 12 served as the muse for the Jumpman Team 1 as several design elements were carried over. The circular jeweled bubbles on the upper and heel were also a nod to the Air Jordan 13.
The Jumpman footwear options also expanded the reach of Michael Jordan footwear; priced at $110, the Jumpman Team 1 introduced a more affordable tier of performance footwear to Jordan enthusiasts, boasting Zoom Air and Phylon cushioning. Bulls teammates such as Ron Harper and Toni Kukoc were rememebered for wearing this model, as were Team Jumpman athletes Eddie Jones.
You can find this Jumpman Team 1 re-issue at Jordan Brand retailers soon for $145.
