Michael Le Though not long since their last encounter with the Mac Attack, Social Status is already joining back up with the Swoosh for another take on John McEnroe’s signature silhouette.
Before Nike officially brought the Mac Attack out of retirement, Social Status teased not one but several different collaborative renditions of the iconic tennis shoe. And given that their second pair — the “Social Currency” — is already lined up for release, it’s possible we’ll receive every one of these before the end of 2023.
Similar to the “Silver Linings” colorway that precedes it, the Social Status x Nike Mac Attack “Social Currency” features tearaway materials along its Swoosh, lower heel, and collar. With wear, the green satin that initially dresses these fixtures will gradually expose the orange suedes hidden just underneath. The rest of the shoe is much more understated, employing pre-aged midsoles, a gum bottom, and cream tones along its textured leather overlays and mesh unders.
Complete with three different lace options, the Social Status x Nike Mac Attack “Social Currency” is slated to release on Aug. 25th. If you’re looking to secure your pair, the general raffle will run from Aug. 14th to Aug 21st via socialstatuspgh.com.
