Saucony continues to explore its archive with several members of its extended family. The latest?: Germany’s Asphaltgold, which has reimagined the Shadow 6000.
Inspired by the fast-moving reality so many of us live, Asphaltgold has brought the idea of “Accelerate Decelerate” to the Massachusetts-based company’s vintage performance running model. One cannot exist independently of the other, creating a “yin-and-yang”-like relationship between acceleration and deceleration. The Saucony Shadow 6000 is inherently rooted in this idea as it debuted in 1991 as a compelling option for serious runners. The latest take by the European retailer sees classic suede and coarse mesh join forces to create a familiar, but elevated proposition. Wave-shaped side panels take on a silver finish that evokes both retro running shoes and fast cars. For the first time in the design’s history, a miniature wave logo appears on the mudguard. The mostly-reserved color scheme speaks to the “Accelerate Decelerate” theme, with light grey and shades of white working in-tandem with olive hits for a fresh spin on a classic silhouette.
Enjoy campaign photography of the pair ahead. The “Accelerate Decelerate” Shadow 6000 launches online via asphaltgold.com on October 14th at 6pm CEST. An in-store launch will take place on the same day but at 11am CEST. The shoes arrives in sizing from EU 35.5 to 48, and priced at 159€ (approx. $169 USD).
