Updated May 28th, 2024: Official images of the Nike Air Tech Challenge 2 “Hot Lava” has emerged, revealing a pre-yellowed aged aesthetic on the midsole, softer leathers, and a Nike Air hang-tag as a nod to its roots in the early 1990s. These are due to release on August 30th, 2024.

Original article posted October 23rd, 2023: With the return of iconic silhouettes like the Mac Attack and Air Trainer 1, Nike’s most prominent era in tennis is looking to continue its nostalgic renaissance in 2024. While we can certainly expect more drops of the aforementioned two models, we’re ecstatic to learn that another all-time great is being served up once more.

According to Sneaker Files, this Andre Agassi classic is slated to return in Fall 2024. Last releasing in 2016, the Air Tech Challenge 2 burst into the scene in various original and modern styles, satiating appetites of Nike heads that adored the late 1980s to early 1990s era of Nike design.

According to the official color description, shades of Pale Ivory and Phantom are being infused in, which strongly suggests that an pre-aged, vintage treatment is to be expected — perhaps in an execution similar to the highly popular “Reimagined” series by Jordan Brand (specifically with the Air Jordan 1 “Chicago” and the “White/Cement” Air Jordan 3).

A first look hasn’t been revealed just yet, so stay tuned as we learn more.
