The adidas Adistar Cushion 3 From 2005 Returns In “Silver Metallic”

Does it get more "Y2K" than this?

The adidas Adistar Cushion 3 From 2005 Returns In “Silver Metallic”

The adidas Adistar Cushion 3 speaks to the past of the Three Stripes Running heritage, but its aesthetic maintains fresh years after its debut.

Released in 2005 as a running shoe built for logging miles, the Adistar Cushion 3 (now widely referred to as simply the “Adistar Cushion”) laid the foundation for some of the brand’s current lineup of max-cushioned footwear. Visually, the sneaker’s airy mesh base, curved synthetic panels, and common use of “Silver Metallic” have allowed it to transcend its era. Nearly 18 years after its introduction, the sneaker continues to deliver adidas legacy in a stylish package. Its newly-surfaced “Silver Metallic/Cloud White” ensemble ups the retro ante by covering the upper entirely in the shimmering tone of the two. The busy upper design works well with the metallic finish as it evokes both the sense of motion and of the future.

Underfoot, the color scheme is a lot less eye-catching, but equally as important to the Adistar Cushion’s winning formula. A robust foam midsole cushions the Y2K-era-born running shoe, opting for a “Cloud White” makeover. adiPRENE cushioning peaks out along the profiles, ensuring quality comfort with every step. Stability components opt for a transparent finish, while outsole rubber is given a standard “Core Black” touch.
