Nike’s 25th anniversary celebration for the Air Max Plus has allowed both longtime and new fans of the model to enjoy the sneaker in dozens of ways.
As 2023’s end inches closer (and therefore, the anniversary), Sean McDowell’s iconic design from 1998 has emerged in yet another predominantly “Black” ensemble. Ostensibly a kid’s-exclusive offering, the pair replaces traditional mesh bases with a ripped patent leather finish. Akin to other Nike Air Max Plus styles that’ve surfaced over the last few months, the unreleased option also boasts textile overlays along the profiles instead of standard TPU pieces. The update breathes new life into McDowell’s creation, which has long been overshadowed by models from the marquee Air Max line.
Elsewhere, chrome takes over profile swooshes for a futurist aesthetic. Badges on the top of the tongue and spine, however, deviate in a combination of punchy blue and electric green. Midsoles keep things pitch-dark, with Tuned Air and Air Max bubbles opting for “blackout” makeovers. Detailing across the outsole, however, bring some of the upper’s lime green flair underfoot.
Enjoy official photos of the kid’s Air Max Plus ahead. No firm nike.com launch details have been disclosed by the brand as of this writing, but that’s likely to change in early 2024.
